ARCECS - The ARC Emergency Communications Service
ARCECS is a Special Service Amateur Radio Club in the ARRL Hudson Division, New York City-Long Island (NLI) Section. Created in 1964 within the then-Queens Chapter of the American Red Cross, ARCECS continues to provide Amateur Radio Emergency Communications assistance to the American Red Cross in the Greater New York Region.
Our emergency communications skills have been called into service on major disasters for over fifty years. Some of these include the 9/11 terror attacks in New York City, Hurricane Katrina, local airline disasters in Queens and the Rockaways, and more recently, Hurricane Irene and Superstorm Sandy. We are proud to be able to supply invaluable communications assistance to the American Red Cross when all other means fail.
