  • Scheduling Exceptions

    A DX bulletin replaces or is added to the regular bulletins between 8 PM Eastern time Thursdays and 8 P.M. Eastern time Fridays.

    ARRL Headquarters and W1AW are closed on New Year's Day; Presidents' Day; Good Friday, Memorial Day; Independence Day; Labor Day; Thanksgiving and the following Friday; and Christmas Day. In a communications emergency, monitor W1AW for special bulletins as follows: voice on the hour, digital at 15 minutes past the hour and CW on the half hour.

  • Qualifying Run Schedule

    W1AW Qualifying Runs are sent on the same frequencies as the Morse code transmissions.

  • Visiting W1AW

    W1AW is open to visitors from 8 AM to 5 PM Eastern time, Monday through Friday, except holidays. Amateur Radio operators may operate the station from 10 AM to 3:45 PM Monday through Friday.

    Be sure to bring your current Amateur Radio license or a photocopy.

    ARRL Headquarters and W1AW are closed on New Year's Day; Presidents' Day; Memorial Day; Independence Day; Labor Day; Veterans Day (when it falls on a weekday); Thanksgiving and the following Friday; and Christmas Day.

  • QSL Policy (including 2014 W1AW portable operations)

    Amateurs who work us and would like a W1AW QSL card should send their QSL card to us and please include a SASE (Self-Addressed-Stamped-Envelope). International stations may QSL directly to W1AW with one IRC or via the bureau.

    QSL cards are no longer processed for any of the 2014 W1AW/xx portable operations.  However, LoTW discrepancies are still investigated.

    All W1AW QSOs are uploaded to Logbook of the World weekly.

  • W1AW Phone Bulletin available on EchoLink

    The nightly W1AW 9:45 PM ET phone bulletin is now available on W1AW's EchoLink conference server W1AWBDCT.  Information on the conference server can be found here.

  • W1AW 6 Meters Signal Report web page

     W1AW is now QRV on 50350 kHz for all its regular CW code practice, and CW, digital, and phone bulletin transmissions.

    In addition to providing regularly scheduled transmissions on 6 meters, another goal is to act as a beacon on 6 meters, especially from the Northeast US.

    Signal reports are welcome via an online page at, http://www.arrl.org/w1aw_6m_srp .  Reports may also be emailed to W1AW at, [email protected].

     

     

     

  • W1AW Operating Events

    Operating events from W1AW will be posted as they become available, and when they are verified.

     

  • W1AW/xx VOTA QSL information

    Please note there are NO QSL cards available for any of the 2023 W1AW/xx VOTA operations.  All contacts will be confirmed via LoTW only.

     

    If W1AW is active for IARU, or any other NON-VOTA operation – such as an ARRL Division Convention, Pacificon, etc. – there will be QSL cards available as normal.

     

    QSL cards are still available as normal for contacts made with Hiram Percy Maxim Memorial Station W1AW in Newington, Connecticut.

     

  • W1AW to QSY on 17 Meters for CW

    Beginning on Friday, September 6, 2024, Maxim Memorial Station
    W1AW will begin using a new 17 meter frequency for its scheduled CW
    transmissions due to increased activity near the current bulletin
    frequency.  In order to reduce the possibility of interference, W1AW
    will move to 18077.5 kHz.
