In This Issue Upcoming Contests -- Things to Do The NCJ CW Sprint is this weekend beginning at 2300 UTC on Saturday, February 5. This is one hour earlier than the September Sprint that began at 0000 UTC. The contest is still four hours long and will end at 0300 UTC on February 6th (Saturday evening). Don't miss the starting bell! This one-hour shift should allow more use of 20 meters and help smaller stations make more contacts. -Thanks to Ward Silver, N0AX, NCJ CW Sprint Manager For those of you who like to participate in the state QSO parties, there are three coming up this weekend (February 5-6). The Vermont QSO Party begins at 0000 UTC on Saturday, and concludes at 2359 UTC on Sunday; the Minnesota QSO Party starts at 1400 UTC and concludes at 2359 UTC on Saturday; and finally, the British Columbia QSO Party begins at 1600 UTC on Saturday and concludes at 2359 UTC on Sunday. Be sure to check the rules pages for the bands and modes that are allowed in each event. State QSO parties are a great way to add to your Worked All States award totals! The EU-DX Contest will be held this weekend starting at 18.00 UTC Saturday, February 5 and ending at 18.00 UTC Sunday, February 6. ⢠European Union stations send RST and a two-letter & two-number code to identify their regions (see rules for details). Full rules are available at eudxcc.altervista.org/eu-dx-contest/. The ARRL February School Club Roundup runs from 1300 UTC on Monday, February 14 through 2359 UTC on Friday, February 18. School Club Roundup is co-sponsored by ARRL and the Long Island Mobile Amateur Radio Club (LIMARC). For full details on the event, please visit www.arrl.org/school-club-roundup. News, Press Releases, and General Interest North Coast Contesters are proud to announce that the 28th Annual Dayton Contest Dinner will be held on Saturday night, May 21, 2022 at the Hope Hotel - Wright Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio. Master of Ceremonies is Contest Hall of Fame member and CQ World Wide Contest Director, John Dorr, K1AR, with the dinner speaker to be announced. The 2022 CQ Contest Hall of Fame inductees will also be announced at the dinner. NCC extends their thanks to Scott, KA9FOX and QTH.com for designing, building, donating and running the Contest Dinner web site; and to Teri, K8MNJ, for coordinating and organizing the 2022 Contest Dinner. For complete details and to purchase tickets, please visit their website at contestdinner.com. -Thanks to Tim Duffy, K3LR, Dayton Contest Dinner Chairman Word to the Wise Sprint A short contest that emphasizes frequency agility. The original Sprint contest is the North American Sprint, held in February and September of each year, sponsored by the National Contest Journal. The most unique aspect of Sprint contests is the QSY rule - when a CQing station receives a response, they must QSY and leave the frequency to the calling station once they conclude their QSO. Most Sprints do not allow the "running" of stations on a single frequency that is characteristic of most other contests. Results and Records Jim Stahl, K8MR, the Ohio QSO Party Chairman, has announced that the results of the 2021 Ohio QSO Party are now available at the OhQP web site. Jim would like to extend his thanks to all of those who took part, and hopes you'll all be back again for the 2022 OhQP on Saturday, August 27.
