The ARRL Board of Directors approved a new 9 cm band plan. The ARRL UHF/Microwave Band Plan Committee offered a proposed 23 cm band plan for comments.
The League published tips and the W1AW Field Day bulletin schedule to help radio amateurs have a successful ARRL Field Day, held June 23-24. According to ARRL Media and Public Relations Manager Allen Pitts, W1AGP, 24 states issued proclamations, praising Amateur Radio.
The ARRL announced that nominations are now being accepted for Director and Vice Director positions in the Central, Hudson, New England, Northwestern and Roanoke Divisions.
The ARRL Executive Committee approved equipment and resource grants valued at $16,000 for 11 schools.
The ARRL Annual Report for 2011 is now available.
W1AW had its spring antenna/tower inspections. In addition to performing the inspections on W1AW’s and W1HQ’s towers and antennas, the 6 meter Yagi was realigned (it was slightly twisted on the mast), the anemometer on the Satellite tower was moved up to a higher point and the 80 meter cage antenna feed point assembly was installed.
Led by ARRL President Kay Craigie, N3KN, a delegation from the ARRL attended HAM RADIO 2012 in Friedrichshafen, Germany.
The ARRL Volunteer Examiner Coordinator instructed ARRL Volunteer Examiners to be prepared for the new Amateur Extra Class question pool (Element 4) that goes into effect in July.
ARRL Media and Public Relations Manager Allen Pitts, W1AGP, assisted Cliff Segar, KD4GT, with graphics promoting Amateur Radio on a 10×20 billboard on Interstate 40 in Tennessee that Segar owns.
The ARRL introduced new apparel and supply items for Volunteer Examiners.
The ARRL is offering two online public service training courses.
DXCC News: The DXCC Desk has approved seven operations for DXCC credit: TT8ES, XX9E, TL9EL, XW4XR, J28RO, J25DXA and 5X1RO.
Chris Stallkamp, W0ADZ, of Selby, South Dakota, was appointed as the new South Dakota Section Manager.
A new QuickStats poll was made available on the ARRL website.
The winner of the QST Cover Plaque Award for June is Dennis Johnson, KF0QR, for his article “A 160 and 75/80 Meter Folded Dipole.”
The August print issue of QST and the July/August issues of QEX and NCJ were released to the printer. The August digital issue of QST was released to the digital publisher.
Official Observer Desk: ARRL Field and Regulatory Correspondent Chuck Skolaut, K0BOG, handled complaints concerning an operation on 14.313 MHz and jamming on a Northern Florida repeater.
