ARLD014 DX news

This week's bulletin was made possible with information provided by
Tedd, KB8NW, Jerry, KF8EP, Francesco, IK0FVC, and the Contest Corral
column from the pages of QST magazine. Thanks to all.

INDONESIA. Team leader YB0RX will be organizing a DXpedition to
Enganno Island, a new IOTA, off the coast of South Sumatra,
Indonesia. This three day operation starting March 24 will involve
35 people. Listen for their CW, SSB, RTTY and OSCAR on all bands,
including the CQWW WPX SSB Contest using the call sign 8A4EI.

CAMBODIA. XU7VK is active on 14007 and 14017 kHz. QSL via HA0HW.

SOUTHEAST ASIA DXPEDITION. Mike, DF8AN, leaves Germany on April 21
bound for Kathmandu, Nepal. He has applied for a visitor's call
sign, but may use 9N1/DF8AN between March 22 and April 5. Activity
will be mostly CW. From Kathmandu he travels to Hong Kong to
operate with a VS6 call sign or VS6/DF8AN between April 6 and 13.
While in Hong Kong he plans to visit Macao to apply for an XX9 call
sign. From April 13 to 24 he will try to be active from the island
Koh Samui, Thailand, with a visitor's licence for HS/DF8AN. Mike's
operations will be on 40, 15 and 6 meters only. QSL via the bureau
to DF8AN or direct to Michael Noertemann, Amselstieg 4, D-38226
Salzgitter, Germany

EAST MALAYSIA. 9M8RC has been on 14019 kHz. QSL via HL5AP.

TOKELAU. Ron, ZL1AMO, has cancelled his T31 operation slated for
April due to transportation problems. He hopes to be active from
Tokelau instead.

SVALBARD. Three YL operators will activate Spitsbergen Island, IOTA
EU-26, in the Svalbard Archipelago April 8 to 12. Their radio
equipment will be a battery powered, synthesized portable radio with
25 watts of output power to a dipole antenna. Try 14247 and 21247
kHz SSB. Some CW operating is planned. Please note that their
radio has no provision for split frequency operation. Also consider
their limited battery power and make QSOs short by exchanging only
signal reports unless otherwise requested. QSL Unni, JW6RHA, via
LA6RHA. QSL Turid, JW9THA, via LA9THA. QSL Inger, JW8KT, via
LA8KT.

HEARD ISLAND UPDATE. The South Sandwich Island DX Group has
announced that Verne Fowler, W8BLA, of Roswell, GA, is the newest
team member. Verne will fill one of the CW op slots. There is
still a need for CW ops and a team doctor. For details, FAX your
request to Jerry, AA6BB, at 503-998-1269 or Tony, WA4JQS, at
606-679-3151.

CANADIAN ARCTIC DXPEDITION. The Inuvik Amateur Radio Club is
planning to operate on what is believed to be Hendrickson Island in
the Arctic Ocean. This island is located NE of Tuktoyakutuk at 69
29N by 133 36E, is IOTA NA-192 and Canadian Island number NW-37.
Operations should start at 0000z April 1 and finish up some time
Sunday afternoon. Listen for VE8YEV. Two radios will be used, with
one parked on 14260 kHz, an IOTA frequency, most of the time. The
other radio will roam 80, 40 and perhaps 15 meters operating CW, SSB
and RTTY.

QSL ROUTE CHANGE. Ken, V73C, aka AH9C, reports that OKDXA, the
Oklahoma DX Association, no longer handles his QSLing chores. Until
further notice, send cards direct to V73C or AH9C Callbook
addresses.

QSLS WHILE YOU WAIT. Francesco, IK0FVC, plans to be at the Dayton
Hamvention April 28, 29 and 30. He will have 1A0KM and HV4NAC logs
and QSL cards. Plans are to be available for direct confirmation
for those in attendance still needing these cards.

THIS WEEKEND ON THE RADIO. The CQ World-Wide WPX SSB Contest,
sponsored by CQ Magazine, runs from 0000z March 25 to 2400z March
26. Exchange signal report and progressive serial number starting
with 001. Details appear on page 105 of February QST. Good luck in
the contest.
