McGrannahan, N0ZL (ex-K0ORB), SK Past ARRL Midwest Division Vice Director and Director Bill McGrannahan, N0ZL (ex-K0ORB), of Kansas City, Missouri, died April 24. He was 83. A Charter Life Member of the ARRL, McGrannahan was serving as vice director of the Midwest Division when Director Paul Grauer, W0FIR, resigned for health reasons in 1993. McGrannahan assumed the directorship for the next six months, but he lost a close election for a full term as director that fall. McGrannahan also served on the Quarter Century Wireless Association Board of Directors. An Army Air Corps veteran, McGrannahan went on to become a dental surgeon. He retired in 1986, although he continued to lecture and present continuing education courses for dental schools and societies until 1990. He was a member of American Mensa, served on the volunteer staff of Children's Mercy Hospital and was a member of the Research Hospital oral surgery staff. McGrannahan received two citations from the American Dental Association for his contributions to scientific programs as well as similar honors from Baylor University and the University of Pittsburg. He also was active in the University of Missouri at Kansas City and Kansas University alumni associations. Survivors include his wife Virginia and their daughter and son. There will be no formal service. The family has suggested that friends observe a memorial moment. Friends have been invited to gather Friday, April 29, 2-4 PM, at Central United Methodist Church, 5144 Oak, Kansas City, Missouri (enter on the west side of the building). In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation or to Children's Mercy Hospital. NNNN /EX
