The company, owned by Steve Kostro, N2CEI since 1994, is located in Frenchtown, New Jersey, and manufactures equipment for amateurs for 6 meters and above. Under the agreement, according to SETI League Executive Director Paul Shuch, N6TX, Down East Microwave will produce and market amplifiers, filters, down-converters, and other receive equipment designed by SETI League engineers, with profits to be donated to the SETI League's research fund. Kostro said that ''radio amateurs are in a unique position to succeed where government agencies have thus far failed. SETI is no longer science fiction, but mainstream science, and Down East Microwave is pleased to have a role in this important research.'' An article about the search for extraterrestrial intelligence and the role that radio amateurs can play in it appeared in August 1995 QST on page 37. NNNN /EX
