The Club is a general interest club.
Please note: the Club has changed it's meeting place. We are now meeting in the Community Center building of the Pine Valley Baptist Church as of March 19, 2024.
The club is also affilitated with the Battleship North Carolina Museum. We host several on-air events aboard ship throughout the year, and we also host a guest operator program for Hams who want to operate from the radio room of the ship. Battleship North Carolina is a registered POTA park. See battleshipnc.com/programs-and-events/#radio-programs
In addition to Battleship on-air events, the club also participtes in ARRL Field Day, and Winter Field Day, as well as other Ham related activities such as Fox Hunts, and POTA ops at local parks.
Club meetings are usually organized with a Mentor Hour for a Q&A session at 6:00 pm before the business meeting. At 7:00 pm, a Ham Radio related program begins and is followed by the club business portion of the meeting.
The club operates two repeaters, a VHF and UHF analog repeater. The Club hosts a weekly Monday Night Ragchew net at 21:00 hours local time on the VHF repeater: 147.18, PL 88.5, offset is 000.600. For the weekly net, the VHF repeater is linked to our UHF repeater 442.500 PL 88.5 and offset is 005.000. Participants check into the net, and a Ham presents a topic of interest followed by a round-table discussion. These repeaters are not Echolink capable. The club uses Netlogger during the weekly Ragchew net.
