Hi all- I have a Cushcraft 6el yagi beam. I am/was planning on putting it 1/4 wave above roof and mounting it on 1.5"dia. chain fence rail. I can't use guy wires- no place to anchor them. Opinions on if the 9' long 2"dia rail will hold up in 60 - 65mph winds? If opinions say no- will 9'long 2"dia. support the antenna (no guys)? |

Not sure I understand your setup. Are you talking about a 1.5 inch or a 2 inch mast 1/4 wavelength above your house? Bill |

What band is this Cushcraft beam? A 6 el HF multi-ibander doesn't stand a chance of surviving. However, six elements on 1296 should be OK in those winds. But there's still no way your 9 ft tall pole is going to stand upright in a 65 mph wind without some kind of guying, house brackets, fence post, or other support. |

I have a 5el. 6m Cushcraft horz yagi mounted on a a 1 5/8" steel pole ~15' above trailer home. Update: I talked to DXEngine. and they said no worries. I have strung a 10m wire dipole (h-brew) between that mast and a seperate mast holding a Diamond X300 ~15' above roof. Works good! |
